It was 2008 and my friends insisted I go with them to a music festival in California. It was on a polo field with lush green grass and it was surrounded by palm trees. Admittedly, my musical taste back then mostly consisted of gangster rap, but that year the headliners were Jack Johnson, Prince and some "Roger Waters" guy.
After spending an entire weekend in musical paradise, my worldview had completely changed. As I was serenaded by the sweet sounds of a violin solo to send me on my way home, 50 thousand people recited that they had become comfortably numb. I too, became comfortably numb. I became hooked. I became addicted, and I wanted more.
For the next 8 years of my life, I lived and breathed music festivals. When my financial situation did not seem ideal, I made it work. When school and work prevented from going, I overcame the obstacles. Music festivals became my passion and a gateway to unlocking an open mind.
